Howard Kendall' explosive autobiography to hit Liverpool book shops
by Chris Bradley. Published Sun 10 Mar 2013 13:10

A new autobiography about former Everton FC manager Howard Kendall is to hit shelves in August.

Kendall is one of the greats of English football management and among the defining figures in the history of the club.

A schoolboy prodigy footballer, he first joined the club in 1967 and formed – with Alan Ball and Colin Harvey – one of the most distinguished midfield partnerships in English football.

He won the League Championship in 1970 and later captained the club.

He returned to Goodison as manager in 1981 and revived Everton's glory as they embarked on the most successful period in their history.

Now he lifts the lid on a 30-year career that established his reputation as a managerial and playing legend.

Kendall will be collaborating with award-winning author, James Corbett, who last year worked with Neville Southall on his bestseller, The Binman Chronicles.

Mr Corbett said: "The opportunity to work with your boyhood heroes doesn't come along very often, but I'm lucky for it to happen twice in a year.

"We're progressing well on our collaboration and the book is at once very similar and very different to Neville's.

"It's forthright, revealing and often very funny – with one or two revelations that will shock some fans."

Could open a few cans as well, could our Howard.

Remarkable to relate he was born on the same day as Georgie Best.

I wonder whether there'll be anything about the Gary Speed situation in there. Hopefully not like. Could be controversial this.

Hopefully he'll tell the truth so people will stop saying Gary Speed betrayed the club.

Well he's got no reason to defend Johnson now has he? No reason to lie about the reasons Martyn didn't join, why Simonsen magically moved from Tranmere to Goodison instead, why Big Dunc and others had their contracts with Park Hampers and not Everton Football Club Limited and why several players were sold from under his nose.
