Once Enrique goes, Newcastle will have a good £40m burning a hole in their pocket, Sunderland have brought in a lot of players already but there will still be more to come and on paper their midfield and attack looks stronger than ours. Wickham and Gyan could be really good for them next year. As for Villa, they should have a good £30m to play with too.

I'll wait to see how Newcastle and Villa spend that moeny before I make any judgements to be honest. Damon will have us believe it'll mostly go on debt.

And Sunderland's attack looks promising if unproven, I agree. But I'd take our midfield over theres without hesitation. I think it's easy to forget just how good we were at dominating posession in midfield last year. It didn't mean anything a lot of the time bedcause we didn't have the fire power to do anything with it but it's the sort of thing that wins you games if you have a decent attack in front of you.
