i`m nominating Trashbarg for the `how were you chosen` trophy................ he was winding kopites up before he knew he was an evertonian. classic.

I'm the first in my family, I remember I started watch football as a kid and for some reason I was kind of drawn to Everton and found myself looking for results and taking an interest in them to full blown supporting to mildly obsessive! been nearly 30 years now, many ups and downs but still going strong!!

I'm one of the first in my family to even follow football. My uncle (Aunt's husband) is a big Man U fan and he made me watch the 1996 FA Cup final between them and the RS (I was 10). Other than the odd Australian World Cup qualifier, that game was my first exposure to football, and definitely my first of English football. And the one thing I got from the game was that I hated both sides because they gave me the chills, especially that manky bunch in the weird green and white kits and cream suits.

Started watching all football from then on and I came across this team called Everton that made me feel like I had finally found my place in this world. Odd feeling, I just knew deep down (perhaps in my loins) that this was my club and I'd rejoined my family after decades of being lost after developing amnesia.

When I was a young kid, my next door neighbours were scousers, absolutely bled Blue and made me fall in love with the Club. So as a 5-10 year old Everton was always my favourite team, but really didn't start watching religiously until my early teens when I could actually watch games.

Oh...**** thing about being an Aussie Everton supporter is that everyone thinks you support them only because of Cahill...absolute load of ****. 90% of people you bump into wearing Everton jerseys down here have Cahill on the back and then when you start talking to them about the team they are clueless...kinda funny.

A friend of mine is like this, it's kind of embarrassing going out to watch games with him. But he openly says he supports them because of Cahill.

You have to be a specific kind of person to be a kopite tbh. Just a few words and they can foam and ramble without stopping for at least 5 minutes without letting anyone else get a word in edge ways. Fair play. Suppose it's a talent.
