I've read a lot about ticket allocations to away games, customer numbers, general sales, etc., and I generally have no idea what these mean. If I want to travel to see a game when I visit your great island (at Goodison or in London, for instance) how to I go about securing tickets, and what is the protocol for attending a game?
For most US sports, tickets are available directly from the hosting team and can be purchased at a set date early in the pre season (generally all tickets available at the same time). Or I could visit stubhub.com or a similar site and buy a ticket off someone else if I needed. Finally, usually there are lads walking around the stadium selling tickets outside the park if I need to see a game and had no previous plans (granted that this is not a high-demand game). Also, I don't usually fear that I'll be punched in the face when I visit a rival team's stadium and watch the game (Philadelphia Flyers excluded), so any advice on how to avoid that is also appreciated. And I'd like to wear a shirt, so I don't plan to attend any games at Newcastle, but I'm relatively open.
So, if I want to attend a game, how should I go about doing this? Thanks.
