Last weekend, lower league (8th in what is basically their equivalent of what would be Division Two, South) Amedspor beat Super Lig side Bursaspor (11th in the Super Lig) 2-1, away from home.

Turkish football authorities responded by banning Amedspor fans from the quarter final because of bad chants, banning Deniz Naki (the scorer of the winning goal) for twelve games and fining him nearly five grand because he expressed solidarity with the people of the town who the team represents, who have been under a 24-hour curfew since the conflict with the PKK broke out last year*.
