19, soon as i could afford to i was out of there.

Oh hell no, I wish, that was 25 years ago now!

At that time I was working a YTS, think I was earning 30 notes a week.

Now I do my own shopping and washing, missus of course does my ironing, not for me dat.

It'd never occurred to me until reading this that i have never ever ironed an item of clothing in my life.

Unless you count that old Test Match cricket game when i was a kid and i managed to burn it and the fabric melted onto the iron.

22 years old moved into my renovated house with my beloved - then moved away for promotion had fives houses since moving out, retired now .....

20 for me, became a Club 18-30 rep and never looked back.

Not surprised with that job I doubt if I would have looked backwards in that joblol

No, but spent a few summers there, and got to know some roofers who explained it to us! That time line is worrying!! Cant remember the name of the bar we used, on a beach, south coast, St Brevills maybe? Had a pool table, and opened onto the beach. Magic times.

One of the lads we got to know was a scouser. Another was from Blackburn. Bet me mate a few bob he couldnt do an upside down depth charge. As a Marine, he won that bet easily!

I got a bit lucky, my sister needed a housemate, though I didn't feel it at the time. Never looked back though

Never went home for 5 years!
