How much do we actually think we could get for the Yak?

Player Valuation: £225k
Apparently Sven is interested in him over at Leicester City not sure why because it looks to me like Yak has lost the passion for football over the last couple of years. Obviously it's all about getting his wages off the bill but do you think we'd get a transfer fee for him too?

£5-6m, because "officially" he's 28 and has played top-flight football in England for years.

If his real age was known, he'd probably be worth around £250'000 with Gateshead expressing a keen interest ;)

Wow! 4 or 5 million?! I really don't think we'll get anywhere near that, I reckon we'd snap the hand off anyone who offered anything near 3 million...

Last offer was 5m, can't see it having improved with him not getting any game time unless a foreign team are desperate for a name myself.

Imagine we lived in some kind of magical, crazy bizarro world in which Everton Football Club had enough money to occasionally buy a player. Not Citeh money but just a decent amount -- maybe 15-20 million per year.

Let's say Yak played for Villa and his goals were identical to his goals with us -- one good year but hasn't scored many lately. For some odd reason you've been watching Villa games this year and you've watched him run around and be basically useless.

Would you be happy if Everton spent 5-6 million on a player who is:

1) Coming off a devastating injury which players rarely fully recover from.
2) Many suspect is actually 30+.
3) Can't get a start for his current club ever though current club can't score any goals and are desperate for a striker.
4) Comes on as a sub and looks less than interested.
4) Has 1 league goal this year, 5 the season before that, and 4 the season before that.

I'm going to assume you said no to that question.

So why do we expect someone to pay us that much? If you were a manager (or director of football or chairman) and you watched him come on against Spurs and get that breakaway and not have the pace to turn it into a decent chance would you watch that and say "here's 6 million pounds."

Whatever West Ham offered us is probably the most anyone will offer (might actually have gone down after his performances thus far this year) -- right or wrong I think most clubs feel he's almost done. I'd take 1.5-2.5 (plus wage savings) and be over the moon we got anything.

That said, if he wants to get his act together and prove me wrong I'd be delighted.

the above post raises some good points, but if Vaughan goes for 1.5m having never proved himself at the top level and having had a string of injuries, then Yak should be worth 4m+.

Made me laugh! hopefully if we could get some dough for him moyes could spend it, I hear it is a loan though...

With the market for strikers anything less than 5-6M is ridiclious. Saha was a walking injury and we got offered 8M. Beattie was 4M, Faddy 6M and Johnson (after his worst season as a blue) was 10.5.
