How much corruption do you REALLY think is in football?

riddick

Player Valuation: £70m
The clattenburg thread got me thinking about this a bit and whatnot. I dont mean the clattenburg derby for instance; i chalk that down to blatant bias and incompetence. I dont think there was any agenda by someone to rig that game. I mean down to things like match fixing, or making sure team X doesnt advance.

Collina, for example, i think that *COULD* have someone think it could be a legit circumstance one way/another. It makes no sense to have a ref come out of retirement for ONE tie, have very dodgy circumstances occur then immediately retire. Or in Italy, for example, there was blatant and rampant corruption.

Or that there is a vested interest by FIFA to have the biggest teams in the champions league finals, so they seed the teams to make sure bigger teams almost always get through.

A massive amount. It's not that nobody knows about it, it's just nobody can do anything about it as they're a law unto themselves.

The Qatar World Cup bid will come out in the wash at some point.

I don't think they make it so that certain teams get in - but with the Collina situation they definitely didn't want five English teams in the tournament and I'm convinced he did that on purpose. People will shout "CONSPIRACEEEE" at me for that but I think there's ample evidence - and even David Moyes believes it.

right, like the Qatar bid. If the World Cup is designed to "spread the game of football" as they used the excuse for the states when they had it, how on earth does it make ANY sense for Qatar to get it, when they were barely even getting a mention for possibly winning it.

Could a referee (clattenburg) be that inept and still keep their job though?

to make stupid excuses against technology being introduced so that one persons (the referee) decision is final means to me that match fixing is rife.

I've said it before and I'l say it again. If you ever need proof of curruption with FIFA, this picture provides it

It strikes me that a lot of people seem to think that Financial Fair Play is going to somehow level the playing field. It won't. I saw the details of the proposal a long time ago, and unless it's changed, there's a provision to allow teams in that breach the regulation if they are deemed "commercially important to the competition" or "their absence would impact on the media reach".

In other words, Real Madrid can continue to be bankrupt and they'll get in. Not sure where the likes of City or Chelsea stand though. Mind you Mansour would probably just buy Switzerland if UEFA threatened to block them.

Still fuming about the Qatar and Russian world cups.

We only live once and are definatly only young once. When they make these **** decisions they are actually affecting my life ffs. I'll be well in my 30's by the time a decent world cup venue comes around (if it ever does). Hopefully with a wife and kids so I wont be able to just **** off for a month.

Oh and my view on Clattenburg is that HE is corrupt. Dont think it was The FA (I think we probably have the best FA in Europe, even if we dont like them sometimes). I think he had a few bets on or was payed or something like that. You will always get referee's making mistakes, sometimes glaring ones, but to get as many decisions wrong as he did and all in one teams favour... It was so blatantly obvious I want to scream, even still. That and the Collina performance, where he was brought out of retirement to send us home. The reds call us bitter, but tbh I can only recall 2 refereeing performances where you can genuinely say something dodgy was going on, and they both happened to us. Combined with our horrific bad luck at times we are fairly hard done by a lot of the time.

They give the World Cup to Quatar and still don't know if it should be played in summer or winter. That says it all.
