How Many Marriages Actually End In Happily Ever After?

I think marriage is a bit out-dated and I scoff at the cost of it all -- surely young couples would surely be better spending thousands on a down payment for a house, rather than a dress you'll wear once, a big cake and some sh*te DJ?

Could think of thousands of things to spend 10-12k on other than getting married, Deep down I know she just wants the big day most girls want but the cost of it all baffles me

When alls said and done a piece of paper from the house of make believe will not make me love her anymore than I already do

I can't help but feel its not really for me, I just don't see the sense in spending £10k on effectively a piece of paper telling me I'm now married. I wont feel any different to before, it wont change the relationship, and I could buy a car and go travelling for the same price.

I did Uni and a full-time job to save up money for my wedding. All-in-all I think I spent only 3.5k. That included the honeymoon in Nice (not the spending money like, but still). The missus looked lovely, and the wedding was a smash hit. We only invited family and a few friends that we actually wanted there though (about 80 people total), the wedding was on a Sunday, and it wasn't in some mad country manor or some of the crazy **** that people do.

Oh, and it definitely does feel different when you get/are married. Saying it doesn't is like saying you don't feel different wearing a suit compared to wearing shorts, sandals and a T-shirt, because they're just clothes.
