How fast have you driven a car?

Up until yesterday I’d say it was about about 100mph ish, in my younger days when motorways were quieter and there were a lot less speed cameras and traffic cops about.

However I got an invite to a Jaguar F-Type experience session as their testing facility at Fen End in the midlands which culminated in about five laps of the main circuit and ended up topping out at 162mph on one straight. The instructor reckoned the best they’d done was a 171mph with a tail wind so was quite pleased with that. Learned quite quickly that to go very fast you need to trust your breaks.

Be interesting to know if anyone has been faster as I don’t think it would want to exceed what I managed yesterday.

102 on a motorway
New car and I lost the run of myself
Early Sunday morning and I never realised how fast I was going
I normally always stick to speed limits
Boring old fart me

Yep, about sums me up as well these days though I would add I’m a tad tight as well so the thought of paying a speeding fine and increased insurance premiums keeps me within the speed limits as well.

I clocked 125mph in my Dad's company car when I was 21 then half an hour later got done for speeding doing 82 in a 70 coming back down the same stretch of road. Very lucky I didn't get caught on the faster run.

Driving about 37 years now
Never got a speeding ticket and only ever got 2 parking tickets and both times I was less than 20 yards away from the car

I have a company car with a tracker in it. Gets monitored when on business miles and get a weekly report sent to the boss.

Me and the lads have competitions to see how many violations we can get. Worked out if you speed for less than 30 seconds it doesn’t pick it up. That’s fun.

I’ve been 95mph in a 1 litre Toyota Yaris years ago and it was scariest thing ever. Was going downhill on a motorway to reach that speed. Literally thought the chassis was going to fall off.

Touched 150mph in my own car (upgraded WRX) inside the grand canyon national park on a road trip across country.

Driving someone elses......a Ferrari 348 where i got up to about 165-ish before i ran out of road and had to hit the anchors. Now, riding in a car........180+ in a Ferrari 360

I totally get that!!!!! I remember riding in a friends 1966 Ford Mustang (auto with a 289 V8) and we only did about 70mph, but I thought I might actually die!!!
