This was the last time I was remotely bothered about the Ingerlund team (I was a young 'un though). Stevens, Steven, Reid and Lineker all starting. I think there was talk of Bracewell and even Mimms being called up for the World Cup at one point.

Remember before this, wondering what the everton lads needed to do to get called up for england, as if winning the league, FA and European trophies wasn't enough. Then it happened and suddenly England were good -ish.

Having Italian parents was brought up supporting Italy. The matches where the four Everton players started was the ONLY time that I have ever slightly wanted England to do well, was really proud of them. Wouldn’t have wanted England to win the the WC mind!

Bracewell was injured for 86... I have one of his 3 full England shirts (signed).

For most of the 1990s no Everton player could get near the England team. Even when the likes of Beardsley was bossing the place in1991-92, he didn’t get a sniff.
only really interested in them when there are Blues in the team.

Brace was injured, would have been a certainty to go.
