trying to sell our house and it is rubbish, getting very little interest and loads of properties for sale in our area

anyone have any inside knowledge or ideas as to if it will improve? apparently brexit is having a big impact

I sold one quite quickly , well it’s about to exchange , but it was a fantastic location and priced to sell. I think people are definitely worried at the minute.

Ask your Estate Agent what would be the target if the property was priced to sell.

Make sure the decor is light and neutral.
Make sure the Exterior is neat and tidy.
Cook some buns or cakes before the next viewing as this gives the appearance of a homely environment.

yeah we doing all that , hopefully things will get better in new year...more just wondering if anyone had any inside info on the actual market as a whole

If you’re not getting interest it’s tough . Be dispassionate and look at the photos , would you be interested in it ?It’s sometimes worth spending a bit of time or even a few bob getting stuff right to lift it away from those around it , even if that’s just a bit of paint or tidying round . Bathrooms and kitchens are key for me usually .

I regularly read that Brexit has made no difference and that seems to be the prevailing reporting . I can only say people I’m speaking to who do it regularly are less inclined to buy anything at the minute with too much potential negative movement in it because of the concerns over what’ll happen to the market and I’m the same but I’m risk adverse as an individual. So I can’t say that’s in anyway illustrative of national trends but the cheaper houses that need work are still attractive because of the lack of risk .

Have you thought of arranging an Open House. I.E One day where all prospective buyers turn up. I used this to sell my property and received 4 offers and completed within 6 weeks. I used Purple Bricks.

I go on right move a few times a week, just to see what comes up in my area. From what I can see, nothing has changed really. Anything that's priced right gets snapped up in a day or two, the ones that have been on for ages are clearly over priced. Whether that's the fault of the estate agent or the seller, I guess it depends on each specific situation

As I say I got an offer in the first day for one and then a couple more that week , ridiculously fast . A lot is a play obviously and if there are a number of houses competing with the same area , as the poster seems to indicate then that’s hardly helpful .

Buyers are probably hedging their bets at the minute as we have all been told a no deal brexit will knock 30% off prices.

Sure it will pick up once the disaster has been averted, I always think spring is the best time to sell anyhow.
