It's what people on spending money with, credit.

That's why expenditure is so high.

I'm lucky, I got into loads of debt when I was 20 and made redundant. It was a tough lesson but I save for stuff now and rarely buy stuff on credit

similar here..

literally got thrown credit cards one after another in my late teens early twenties, obv got in to big trouble and couldnt pay it back. ive not been allowed another credit card since about 2010, which is actually a very good thing. no more massive build up of debt looming over me. PAY-AS-I-GO now

A lot of it must be on credit. I was at a work thing the other day and a senior mortgage bloke was saying that only 3% of UK homeowners would be able to make the next month's payment if they lost their income. Seems nobody has savings and we're all living hand to mouth.

... the average is apparently £528.90 per week across the country. That can't be right?

Just seems ridiculously high to me!

Just me that seems weird to? £2,100 per month spent by the average household?

Average number of people per household is 2.3, so that's about £230 a week each.
Sounds about right tbh.
