So I've just mentioned it in the Food thread, but I actually think it deserves it's own..

For those who don't know, the US franchise Hooters bar & restaurants is opening a new location in town, specifically on Water Street where the old News Bar used to be. Naturally, as we're living in 2022, it's caused a bit of a stink from some camps..

Now I've never been to a Hooters myself as I've not been back to America since I was 17, but it's fairly obvious based on the media that we're all familiar with what it's all about - it's a basically a sports bar where women in short crop tops and short shorts serve you. I've been reliably informed by my well-travelled girlfriend (who's a feminist btw) that it's a cool gaff with some good food, so we're looking forward to it opening. Apparently though it had to go through a bit of a push-pull approval process to get the green light from the council so now it's starting to get quite a bit of attention.

Discuss.

Me and my mate went to one in Lithuania.

Actually went out of our way to go like a pair of bad dweebs. It was rubbish.

Guaranteed it will be fat ugly women doing all the “it’s so degrading to our sex” just like they got rid of the F1 Pit Girls.. why shouldn’t beautiful women earn money on their looks, not as if they’re forced into it

My much younger self visited a few of these while on holiday in Canada & the US (and once in Mexico, where I remember the food wasn't nearly as good as that in the north American branches). I never found them to be especially rowdy places, to be honest... although I imagine it could get a bit lively in a Liverpool city centre branch on Fri/Sat night.

It's not the type of place I'd visit but I don't know why people would cause a fuss over it either?

If you want to work there you have to wear what you are told to wear. Don't like it, don't work there. Don't want to drink there, go somewhere else. Freedom of choice, I'd like to think any female working there is fully aware of what they are signing up for.

personally , not really an English thing so can't see it being any more successful than other places.
