Little known fact (it seems) that Holland is in fact just a small chunk of the country, and the proper name is the Netherlands.
Anyway, as you were.

It used to be called the kingdom of Holland due to the province of Holland running the place so it stuck as a nickname. It's no more inaccurate then any other nickname. (The germans aren't culturally hunnish and the French aren't actually amphibians.) Criticising a nickname for lack of accuracy seems to be rather missing the point.
People don't say "Holland" here as a nickname, though. They say it like they say "Belgium", "Slovakia" or "Italy".
Or Burma. Or Bombay.
Arguing with you makes me rigid.
I thought you should know.
You're being rather self defeating if so because we've stopped arguing now.
Instead we're both just silently considering your boner. And feeling a deep overwhelming sense of shame.
Don't worry lad, I schooled a good few people over this pet hate of mine during the Euros!
It's like referring to the UK by saying Wales.
