I work for a Corporation that is Based in Europe. I have worked for Corporations based in the States. I can say this with full authority. My current employer give loads more holidays off ( 11 this year) than what the US based ones do. I was given a base 3 weeks off per year and will get 4 after 10 years service. I will have to work for 15 plus years to get 5 weeks. My previous employers are more standard US companies 2 weeks per year starting and adding a week after x years service.
The school kids and therefore teachers get loads more holidays. There is plenty of time when school kids get a day off and their parents still have to work for a various holiday.
