Anywhere nice to take an 8 year old around October time?

Already had our 'sunlounger' holiday so was looking for something a bit interesting, but hopefully good weather too!

If he has any interest in 'old stuff' as well as nice places to have a poke around, maybe fly into Antalya and head south around the coast for a few days in the rental car.

Loads of old Roman Ruins and walks through woods to lighthouses etc. Theres even a mountain that vents natural gas and has burning vents 24/7. I mean, a burning mountain is cool to boys of all ages.

The tourist season is over by then but the weather will still be very pleasant.

You might get lucky in the southern Greek islands like Rhodes and Crete, but definitely Cyprus. If not then Canary Islands really. Gran Canaria’s capital Las Palmas is way too overlooked, actually feels Spanish. Will be blazing sunshine and plenty of flights from wherever you are in the UK.

I second this (As a serious reply this time)

Went to Gran Canaria myself a couple of years back and it was great. It's got a bit of everything there. Nice beaches, fun nightlife without 'too many' obnoxious Brits, old buildings and some stunning countryside once you venture inland and a bit higher in altitude. Las Palmas is great if you love the old buildings (The Cathederal is amazing) and a trip up to the top of Pico de la Neves is a must-see:
