I've got 39 days holiday this year from work due to hardly taking any in 2013, and have been looking into a mad trip to Asia...

For under two grand I can get the following...

- Flight from Munich (where I live) to Beijing.
- Flight from Beijing to Pyongyang in North Korea.
- 5-day tour of North Korea with all accommodation, and food/drink included.
- Flight back to Beijing.
- Flight to Bangkok.
- Return flight to Munich.

I'd then obviously have to pay for a few nights accommodation on Beijing, and of course the time I spend in Thailand (planning two weeks) and various other travel. I am desperate to visit North Korea and have spent lots of time researching it, sounds like it would be an amazing trip, just gutted you can only get there via China, a country I have absolutely no interest in ().

Thinking the whole thing would set me back around 3.5k all in.

Anybody else got any mad plans this year?

Gonna get a flight from here to Munich, find your pad, break in, get two weeks free accommodation, flight back to uk, train home...... Obvs my travel plans will need to coincide with yours. Minor detail.

Still undecided on the World Cup. If I can be arsed to go to this one, it'll just be for 10 days or so.

Deffo doing a week in Miami early June for the 2 WC warm-up games.

Hopefully a week or two in Morocco in December to include some World Club Cub games.

And the bird is itching to have a week or two at her mum's gaff in Thassos (Greek Island). Depends on whether I can get any leave booked in August when she's able to. Hopefully not!

France to the Caravan, gonna start looking at doing a bit of a whistle stop thing from there around capital city's or something, Daughter is 14 now so kinda thinking that we're running out of summers to do such things, however if a cheap deal in Italy comes up then we may just grab that and head there from france, as much as we love Garda though we'll be looking for Tuscany or the Lazio region, there are campsites only 20k outside Rome that often come up with last minute deals. I get the impression that a lot of folk dismiss some of the places because they think they're over expensive, when in reality its based on what it was like 20/25 years ago.
Italy, can be cheaper than here, whereas folk think it's dearer cos it used to be when package tours 1st started going there.

What part of France is the caravan.

Might do a barge holiday in the South of France.

Definitely do North Korea ASAP. I can see it all going Pete Tong within a decade and revolution taking place. This would mean that it loses its appeal.

I'm contemplating going to Chicago this month, I'm bored **** less. Thought that would mean I'd have to cancel my summer plans to backpack from Denmark to the Croatian coast.

.Ano lid, been investigating the possibility of North Korea for a good few years. It's funny because 99% of people I speak to about it are completely unaware that you can visit and that it's perfectly safe to do so.

The visit to North Korea would add about 1500 quid onto cost of holiday... but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Backpacking sounds good, although I'm a massive fan of America so it'd be Chicago all day long for me.

Butters, surely you can get that trip cheaper if you book it all separately? Have a look into it and look on travel forums and things

Well the North Korea trip includes return flights from to Beijing, so can't make any saving on that, which costs about 1100 quid. I'd be booking the other flights, etc, independentally. Would be a hell of a holiday!

PMSL

Holidays this year will be a week in Cayman (old uni friend lives there so don't need to pay for a hotel), a week's skiing in Austria the moment the NHS sort their sh1t out and fix my ankle, and a week in Denver for the World Lacrosse Championships.
