Title sounds really sad I know ... but... I have 2 weeks to myself later this year (travel permitting by then) and am planning on going abroad by myself for the very first time, I’ve been thinking Greece as a possible option.. anyone travel on their own and have better suggestions ?

I’ve heard Anglesey can be quite nice as long as you stay away from the perverts holidaying on their own....

I heard a song earlier that reminded me of you .... with a little change to the lyrics

“and now we’re all alone in Brexit land my only home”

now I’m not insinuating at all you remind me of Marc almond but I do think you need to be in a soft cell mate lol lol lol

Seems an apt thread, I've got my boss in the Middle East asking me to fly to Dubai for 2 weeks (at my expense) so I can move onto another country within the GCC which has closed borders apart from these stringent demands.

Really doesn't seem legal. I'm already aware it's morally abhorrent, I'm waiting to find out if my BUPA covers that travel. I suspect not.

I had 3 days in Paris once a few years ago on my own and absolutely loved it.
Nothing wrong at all doing something by yourself. It's extremely liberating in some ways.
I thought I pulled a French mother and her daughter on the boat that cruises up and down
the Seine (it was summer) at one stage but they were just being friendly and I had quaffed
far to much red wine! But that's another story...
Definately go on your holiday - you will love it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it - although I'm still waiting for your review on TripAdvisor ;)

I have mixed feelings of holidaying alone having done it several times.

My best experience was in Munich for a few days. I had a full agenda, and joined organised tours where there was a mix of people on their own, in couples, and in smaller groups. I headed off to the Main Train Station each morning and joined a different tour. Went to Dachau, Neuschwanstein Castle, and a ramble through Munich City with them.

It was a decade ago I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the tour provider but in general I think this is a good option for solo travellers.

I'd say do a bit of planning in advance. Some people think this takes the fun and spontaneity out of what is meant to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience but I disagree. If you have an outline of what you'd like to do/see in advance, and some options for how to go about it, you are much more likely to enjoy your trip in my opinion.

I went to Copenhagen and whilst it was a lovely city, I felt at the end, I was just hanging around a bit too much. I took the same bus tour twice out of boredom.

Good luck mate. Hope you can enjoy.
