Title sounds really sad I know ... but... I have 2 weeks to myself later this year (travel permitting by then) and am planning on going abroad by myself for the very first time, I’ve been thinking Greece as a possible option.. anyone travel on their own and have better suggestions ?

I'd absolutely love to go on holiday on my own. Had plenty of days on my own when on holiday when I go to Lisbon as my gf goes to see her aunties and stuff.

Basically, have a few drinks at midday and just bumble about at some art galleries, have a nice lunch, another beer or wine.

To make you feel more confident, I had a ticket booked on my own for a few days in Edinburgh in March to see a special screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and an evening with William Shatner. Saddo I know.

End of the day; it’s something that interested me and although a few friends said they’d join me for the trip and not the screening I figured some time on my own would be sound. If you’re comfortable in your own skin and have a good idea of what you’d like to do on holiday, it can be great going places on your own.

As an example I went to Amsterdam with mates a few years ago and didn’t get chance to do half the things I wanted to because we always had to do what the group wanted. Didn’t go to Anne Frank’s house or any of the art galleries. Did get to the stadium; but it would have been nice to spend one of the days where I was spaced out my mind to do some other things instead. If you go on your own, you can do what you want; when you want, where you want and in the debauched spirit this thread seems to be taking, who you want.

Done it loads. Mix of city breaks and beach holidays. Barcelona, Amsterdam Prague, Krakow, Vancouver. All fantastic. Set my own agenda, go look at what I want and when.

If you want couple of weeks chilling Northern Cyprus is worth a look (the Turkish half). Or you could mix it up and hire a car, spend time in both sides.

Exactly my experience with Amsterdam. Went with mates, descended into hoonery. I mean, it was awesome, but I did want to see more. Went on my own, just ambled about exploring.
