Hodgson Is Racist Towards Space Monkeys

Any use of the word monkey is dodgy unless it is in fact clearly just limited to monkeys and their actions. Hodgson's been a bit thick there, not racist, just thick.

I also note that the use of the term 'nitty-gritty' has been lambasted this past week. Apparently it describes the residue left between decks on slave ships after the 'cargo' had been offloaded.

Hopefully Woy steers clear of telling the lads they get down to the nitty gritty in Brazil.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that some [Poor language removed] managed to get offended by it, or the fact that supposedly the same idiot, made the decision to tell the tale to the press, as opposed to discussing it with the manager.

... if this trend continues I'll be firmly on the right side of EDLNIK on a few issues to be honest. It's absolutely insane.

A word isn't automatically dodgy, or shouldn't be anyway. It depends entirely on context. The world is going mad.

I agree, but that's why it was wrong of Woy to use it. He was using the analogy whilst talking to two black men, with all the connotations that has. It was inappropriate...but Woy looks a bit thick, tbf, and he defo didn't mean to impugn them.

Isn't the obvious argument that there isn't a racist bone in Hodgson's body if he used to the word in that scenario, within the ridiculously obvious context of a half time team talk?

I can't criticise Roy at all here, he's just talking to someone in a normal fashion, doing his job, and some absolute cretin has decided to be a knob about it.

He doesn't have the best history in the world of race relations, like Hodgson.

Given he ignored the aparthied ban to coach white only teams in south africa.

OOOOft!

Didn't know that.

I take it back, he knew exactly what he was implying by that word. It's a wonder he doesn't call them kaffirs.

He was using an analogy that includes an animal ffs, those seeking to apply a racist connotation to what is a well used tale, are pathetic in my book & I don't think Hodgson deserves labelling as 'thick' over this either.
