I didnt know that the first intercity rail link between two cities was built in 1830 from liverpool to manchester.
Also that the oldest chinese and african communities in europe are in liverpool.

First railway death too. Huskisson killed and his memorial is in St James cemetery.

The American Civil War began on 12 April 1861 and ended in Liverpool on 6 November 1865, when the last Confederate warship 'CSS Shenandoah' surrendered in the Mersey. It resulted in the abolition of slavery in the United States.

The dock closed in 1829 and was filled in. The Maritime Museum now do tours to an excavated section of the original dock wall near Canning dock.
