Depends enormously on your budget. If I were starting from scratch, on a reasonable budget I'd look up a Dual cs505 turntable, or Rega, or Project, or Linn, or Elite Rock (at increasing cost and quality).
I was very impressed with some Temple Audio amplifiers I bought for use on my barge, on the basis that they could run off 12v - but also can be run from mains. I'd recommend their mono block amps especially.
Can't advise on Bluetooth receiver as I seldom use mine as by nature the sound quality lacks precision and I rarely listen as 'backgtound'.

I build my own speakers so can't really comment on anything made in the last 30 years! If you can find some vintage Tannins or Mission or Monitor Audio you can't go too far wrong for the cost. The most important thing here is to listen to a range before you buy. Speakers are very much fine to taste.

There are some very good kits available (IPL I think) and parts from Wilmslow Audio - look up their website. For PROPER deep bass (as opposed to the monotonous reflex boom that 90% of speaker manufacturers rely on to impress and manufacture bass) - check out transmission line designs (Wilmslow have some). With a good kit you'll get far superior sound for your cash. I dont use kits myself, I use my own designs - but I doubt you could afford mine! :D they weigh in at around 60kg each so shipping would be considerable.

I'm open to suggestions, mind. Looking to spend between £1500-2000.

Only on word of mouth, not experience...may not be a consideration, as far as looks, and unfortunately that can be important if you have a Mrs running about 'kin feng shui'ng all over the shop. I'm a-ok with my old Polk Monitor 70 Series II's. They do what I require of them, handily.

I've read a long piece on the Sprout where the reviewer tries it with the 707s and a couple of other speakers, and it powered them beautifully, so I'm not too worried about it pairing OK with the 606s. It's more whether the 707s are worth the extra £250 odd notes.

That's great then, although the two speakers will have different impedance/sensitivity, so if you're basing it on the review, you ought to copy that set up imo.

I don't really keep up with hi-fi anymore, so can't really offer any suggestions, although I bought some Dali bookshelf speakers last year for the kitchen to pair with my Pi based BOSS amp and processor and it's very good for the money.

Listening to a particular set up trumps all.
