Hicks begins damages claim

Hicks has only won the right to seek permission to launch a suit from UK courts. It's pretty much a defeat for him as that sought for permission to even launch a suit will likely be refused given that they've had their day in court under our legal system and the case thrown out. The injunction blocking Hicks' way from suing in the US remains in place, and that was the big issue there today.

Bottom line: they've been done up like a kipper by the British ruling elite closing ranks.

I'm not so sure. Before today they had no right to seek damages, now they do in the UK at least. I would have thought that they will now find a way of allowing a US court ( based on the fact that the judge didn't just throw it out or maintain the universal injunction) to get involved in a dispute between two US companies and one British bank. I am sure the lawyers on here will clarify the legal situation, but I think they have taken their first step and could not have expected much more from the same judge. Next will come play the man not the ball.
