Hi GOT team,
I am a long time Everton supporter from Johannesburg, South Africa.
I started supporting Everton around 1977 or 1978. I cannot remember the year but South Africa had recently started having television (we were all a bit backward then) and our family had that year bought our first television set. At the time the Red Side were completely dominant and the SA Broadcasting Corporation showed three Merseyside derbies in the space of a month. I believe it was a league match, a FA Cup match and the cup replay. All games finished in draws but I was rooting for the underdogs (Everton) through all three matches. Since then I have become a passionate Blue.
When I finally got the chance to see Everton play live it happened to be against Arsenal at Highbury in 1984 - I think one of the only games we lost that year! I still guard the ticket and matchday program with my life.
I suppose that it is fitting I write my introductory post just hours before today's derby as my dislike for the Red side was the reason I support Everton today.
