two red cards for me

heskey clearly threw a fist at gallas's face.

and gallas in the first place had hands raised around heskeys throat.

reds and a 6 game ban a piece would send the appropriate signal.

bad challenge bent, no worse than the bolton games tasty moments.

above the knee is atrocious.

i dont think essien deserved a red, if he did, then gallas and heskey deserved firing squad or similar.

no consistency.

Personally I don't mind a bit of rough and tumble, it's part of the game. For instance I watched a bit of the Wales/SA rugby yesterday and there was a bit of a scuffle between two players with a few others helping out. The ref told them to stop being silly buggers and to not spoil the game and that was that. When it's a case of handbags at five paces, which lets face it is what most 'fights' in football are (when was the last time anyone was actually punched properly?) a ticking off should be enough.

Now, dangerous tackles on the other hand can cause serious injury and deserve all that they get.

Exactly, now Duncan could give out a proper punch and in fairness he probably deserved to go, but the point is Scharner wasn't done any lasting damage was he. Kuyt's 'tackle' on Neville however could have put him out of the game for months.

Reminds me of the Carling Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea when their was a mass bout of handbags. All a lot of fuss over nothing, the ref should have just told them to stop being girls and get on with the game. Instead, what was it three red cards or something?
