Wondering if anybody can help me.

Recently my LG TV has stopped working properly - the HDMI ports no longer pick up signal (despite saying connected). I've tried different cables and all sorts to no avail. This is frustrating because now nothing works, xbox, nintendo, laptop etc.

Does anybody have any get-arounds or fixes for this? The TV is definitely no longer in warranty and LG customer service sucks.

Is it worth upgrading my TV instead? And what's the best TV these days, I'm totally out of touch.

Any help appreciated thankya

I’ll move along
I thought the thread title was referring to something else.
OLED is the latest tech but expensive.
Samsung and LG are good
LG is where I've had problems so might avoid another TV by them.

OLED looks pretty major but expensive is an understatement haha.

My mums TV did similar recently, it's an LG as well. If you look online you'll find loads of people with the same problem from LG TV's bought in 2010/2011 and they go on about baking the board to fix it. That sounds a bit mental but loads say it fixed it, my mum just replaced the TV rather than go through that so I can't tell you if it really works.

If you haven't already looked it up though then do a search and you'll see loads about it.

If your going to get a new TV get a flat screen and make sure it's full hd and not hd ready.
Try to avoid cathode ray tube (CRT) tv's, there really heavy and taken up loads of space

Yeah sounds mental but it's exactly that, something about removing the main board and then baking it for 10 minutes. I'll probably find out that it was some hilarious ploy to get loads of people cooking their tv's but I genuinely read it and saw loads say it worked.

Edit;

Apparently.... it's for re-soldering the joints to the components. They're prone to cracking, and this is supposed to melt the solder so it flows around the legs of the components again and makes a proper connection.

I've never tried this myself so wouldn't know if it works.

Easiest way is to inspect the motherboard with a magnifying glass, and check for solder cracks.

Easier still, look for someone who repairs them...or sells reconditioned boards.
