I'm recording on a Canadian "soccer" podcast tomorrow previewing the FA Cup Final, and for some reason I'm supposed to make the case for Wigan. (If only, if only.....).

I need help on this - I really think it will end something like 4 - 0 to ****teh. Any suggestions or nuggets of info or inspiration I can raise to pretend that I think Wigan have a chance?

They aren't Man City should be enough mate!

Just read the fact you need to make a case for them to win.

Erm.......

They can play without fear or trepidation as they have played some pretty high stakes games over the past few seasons.

They may not get many chances to play in a final of that magnitude again as most are average players really.

City may underestimate them and not turn up.

They have turned over some big sides over the years.

They were unlucky not to beat City at the Etihad the other week.

Cardiff nearly beat Liverpool in the League Cup

Wigan beat us 3-0 despite us being at home and massive favourites.

They play positive football.

Neutral ground, no home advantage for City.

It's the Cup, anything can happen.

Portsmouth winning it.

Mate, do a bit of digging about where Wigan came from (Springfield park era), Wigan Pier, the Rugby thing (Rugby Town), make some jokes about their unique ticket sales techniques, talk about their transfer policy and how they survive. Then contrast this with City and their shenanigans.

Wigan pulled our pants down. They are so unpredictable sometimes it's untrue. It's 11 v 11 and its at Wembley. It's on!!!

3-0 City.

Just say that every game they've played in the last 3 weeks of the last 3 seasons has pretty much had the intensity of a cup final. They have nothing to lose in this game. All the pressure is on Man City. If they can scrape the first goal, sphincters will tighten in sky blue.

Great suggestions, keep 'em coming, I'm almost starting to believe.

I'll definitely credit (blame?) GrandOldTeam on the podcast.

I think thats about it Lid!!!

Like making a case for North Korea ****tting the septic tanks if it goes off really!

For the first time in 50 years, Manchester City expect to win a trophy. Can play tricks on them.

Actually, I just thought of this: in short order at Goodison, Wigan beat us 3-0 and we beat City 2-0, so that means Wigan would win the final 5-0 (if it was at Goodison).

I've been saying this for weeks, but I honestly think this game will be a carbon copy of the '95 Final. I think Wigan will win it 1-0. They are more than capable of getting a lead and holding on to it. They are not a bad team (As they sadly showed against us in the Quarters)

I'm not the biggest Martinez fan in the world but I think that tactically he is superiour to Mancini and that will be the difference between the two sides. Wigans team seem to play more for each other than City and I think that they will bring the "cup final spirit" to Wembley with them.

Don't count them out. City must surely be favourites, but Wigan have more than enough in the tank to beat them
