Hi Guys,

I'm hoping to be cheeky and get some help from my fellow generous blues.

My daughter was born with a cleft palate and as such spent a fair bit of time in and out of hospitals and runs down to Addenbrookes in Cambridge. The hospital and support staff were excellent and now eight years later you would never know my daughter was born with a cleft palate. As a side of the cleft palate though she has recently (last year) had to have hearing aids fitted as her hearing was getting gradually worse (to the point you could pretty much shout behind her and she wouldn't know) Again all staff have been excellent with my daughter, making her feel comfortable wearing hearing aids, going into the school and educating the teachers and other pupils etc in what it feels like to have partial hearing and just generally doing an all round fantastic job!

As a thank-you i have managed to get a place in the London Marathon this year (26 April) and will be running for the charity Action against Hearing Loss (formerly Royal national institute for the deaf) I'm trying to raise £1800.00 to say thanks for all the excellent work they have put in with my daughter. Being cheeky i was wondering/hoping that fellow blues might be able to give a little something (doesn't matter how small as every little helps) I know this is extremely cheeky and please ignore if too cheeky. If you could give though (which would be fantastic) my charity donation page is http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/LeeHarris78

Again many thanks for taking the time to read, its truly appreciated. Here's to running 26 miles!

Thanks for the good wishes, i'm surprisingly enjoying the training at the moment!!

Done it twice: first time felt like a breeze; was a mile 10 before I knew what was happening and mile 20 before it became difficult. Second time was completely opposite; wanted to quit at mile 13, 15, 17, and only kept going after that because running was the quickest route to quitting. Had a great experience both times, and very glad I stuck it out the second time.

I'm praying i get experience 1, i just hope if it gets a real struggle the crowd and other runners will get me through!!

Ok matey, Ive done the London three times, it is one of the best things I have ever done. It is a fabulous experience and something to treasure. To be able to enjoy it and take in the atmosphere, please train properly, get yourself a schedule and follow it. Train well, eat well and keep off the beer!! Be dedicated for the next 14 weeks and Im sure you will do it. Enjoy it matey
