Unfortunately @the esk is not here to help me, but for the last two days I keep getting the blue screen and my computer shuts down.

Occasionally it then proves difficult to re-boot.

Any technically minded people offer a solution?

xx
Blue screens should usually give you an error code or statement, pop it into google on your phone and you should be able to find some step-by-step instructions on how to fix the issue.

Buy a mac?

The blue screen of death is called the blue screen of death for a reason.

I'm not in any way tech-minded, so the mac fits my needs perfectly. If you prefer a PC then fair enough, but you will have to deal with hardware catastrophes on a fairly regular basis.

Yeah cos Macs never break down, once you pay the £54,000,000 to buy the overpriced Apple product you never have to replace it.

Apple fanboys are utter hysterical.

Five years and counting for my mac, and in that time it's needed one cable replaced at a cost of £15. In the five years before I bought the mac I had three windows laptops, all of which died. The combined purchase price of the three dead PCs is higher than the price I paid for the mac.

PC fanboys (who refuse to accept that not everyone WANTS to become a tech expert just to keep their laptop running) mystify me. The mac is a legitimate option and it will suit some people far better than a PC ever will. Equally, some people clearly have a knack for tech and the ability to keep their pc running rather than having to buy a new one every 18 months will save them lots of cash.

Horses for courses, you bad apple-hater :)

Really lads?? Slacking to say the least

If you've installed anything recently, try restoring your system to how it was before it started to play up

Googling :-

system restore <your version of windows>

will give things like ...

For Vista

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/...ur-pc-undo-system-changes-with-system-restore

For Windows 7

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/features/system-restore

If you go through that and it doesn't make any difference, it's probably a hardware problem, in which case you'll need a big hammer and a tube of superglue.

Got it once, quite scary. However, it didn't return like I was told it would. It turned out to be a virus which I promptly removed using this bad boy: https://www.malwarebytes.org/ It's much better at finding malware and such than normal virus removal software.
