American Idiot
Hello to everyone. I am a new Everton and football fan from America. I don't know what happened last year but I caught a premier league game on the television and was instantly hooked to the sport. I think the main thing that drew me to the sport was the high level of focus and dedication it takes to put the ball in the goal. In America our sports score so many cheap points and are so in your face and when I saw a competition that with the elegance and precision as premier league football it was refreshing and an amazing change of pace. As for Everton. The first time I watched them compete, I knew they were a team worth following. My dream is now to travel to Goodison park and see it in person.

With all of that said, here is my question. As a new uneducated American, what are some of the things I should look forward to this season? Anything I should know about English football that will help me enjoy the season a little more? I truly appreciate any help you can give!

This is a season of true transition. We've got a lot of new players and essentially a brand new squad as well. It'll take the players a while to adapt.

Basically, we've got a really good team and could do something special, if not this season than definitely next season. Stay patient.

And get ready for the most emotional 90 minutes you've ever had in your life, every single weekend.

Anything a kopite says is a lie

And if they're standing by a wall or a paving slab, run for your life

Welcome mate. I've been where you are, and I've seen football under the lights at Goodison since. If you find the opportunity to do the same, take it. Time is limited and the future will be different. Likely better, but still different. You have to experience Goodison in person.

I think it's a good time to have your inner Evertonian revealed.

Also: Pineapple on pizza? Yes/No?

Utter dissapointment, Davek telling us we're all wrong every two minutes, a possible Cup Final(we don't get to many nowadays) which we'll blow on penalties(look 'em up), Ronald Koeman shouting at Cuco Martina but not subbing him (google "subbing". Make sure your kids aren't around), Carling at matches now instead of Chang (alchohol, both cheap, both horrible), and then being a Blue which I can honestly say is better than almost anything this Universe has to offer. The absolute knowledge that we're gonna get dumped 2-0 by Man City cos they've spent tons and then actually spanking them 4-0 instead and feeling like you're flying. No drugs needed. Welcome to the club mate. It's a bumpy, wonderful, joyous, ultimately disappointing ride (that might be about to change though). None of us would get off it if you paid us though.

Welcome aboard mate, you have joined us in a period of great change and for the most part at least, great optimism. We have quite a few AMerican blues on this forum and i am sure many of them will keep you informed of how you can stream games or watch them on TV. Stay on here and although you might struggle with some or the terminology and the langauge used, dont worry i was born in Liverpool and i get lost quite often :) you will find yourself part of the family. The player to look out for this season is (I think) Sandro Ramirez, and with any luck we will win a cup this season, so you have joined at a good time.

Thank you all for your responses. I'm so excited for the season. I feel like I am prepared for the ups and downs but I'm sure it will be something completely different than I expect.
