I've never been to Sendai, but I understand that's one of the schools she was at. She told me that the school was ok and the kids moved up to higher stories or the roof when the tsunami approached, so it matches her description.

Yep, that's right. Usually an eight or a nine o'clock kick off for a noon game depending upon whether the UK's on BST or GMT, and midnight for afternoon games, but as you say the midweek late games require getting up very early in the morning or sometimes having to follow it on the way to work. Watching the World Cup will probably be all but impossible, here in Japan.
