Hi

My son & I are visiting Goodison for his first time for the Southampton game.

I was hoping to get a bit information that will help our day run smoothly.
  • Firstly, I purchased tickets in 'the paddock.' Is this a good place to sit?
  • We get to Liverpool central around midday. Is there a bus that I can get from there to the area of the stadium?
  • Also, is there a child friendly pub near the ground? Somewhere to get something to eat?

Thanks for any help.

This is my sons first EPL game and he is really looking forward to it. I have a soft spot for Everton due to the Alex Young connection. Also, I have a pathological hatred for generic 'tourist' brand clubs like Man U & Liverpool.

I'm sure many will be able to chime in with answers but just wanted to say hope the trip goes well - and you've chosen wisely. ;)

Well I dont get up that much these days, but there are tons of places for food like chippies and that near Goodison. In a pub near the ground I doubt. I would probably get a bite in town if you need something better than normal football match food.

Others will tell you the best buses. Last time I was up just grabbed a taxi from the station to a pub we were meeting up in. Not expensive.

Enjoy.

The Paddock is good if you have a ticket for row 10 and above
For food and child friendly atmosphere I recommend the Black Horse on County Road. It gets busy, but at that time of year the large beer garden will be superb
A taxi will cost about £7 or £8 to the ground

I'd get a taxi from the city centre. Although the main bus stops are opposite the station so Id advise you to get on the bus with the people dressed in blue on it.

Hope your lad has a good day!

Get something to eat in town, and if it's not raining the fanzone at the park end is good for kids and you can get a pint as well.

You can get a bus from town to County Rd..

Taxi is about a tenner, there's a witherspoons about 3-4 mins from Goodison if you want that sort of nosh or you'd get sandwiches in some of the other pubs in and around the ground.

I'd get something good in town first then get a taxi up.

Have a good day anyway whatever you do.

The Paddock is on the opposite side of the main stand, it'll be fine and take it as a right of passage if you have a restricted view.

Eat something in town. Pizza Hut, TGI Friday's, McDonald's or whatever the kid likes. Get the Merseyrail from Liverpool Central to Kirkdale. It's only a 10 minute walk from there to Goodison. Agree with @bullensboy on The Black Horse. Big pub with a very nice beer garden. Very kid friendly imo.

Cheers guys.

I'm familiar with the centre of town. We can eat there.

Was kind of looking for a pub for a quick pint before the game but time will not allow considering I'm being hauled into the club shop too.

Probably eat and have a drink in town then head to the ground.

Next time I'll arrive on the Friday.

If you are on a budget and don't want to catch a taxi, you can get a train from Liverpool Central (underground) to Sandhills (2 stops) from there there will be a double decker to take the the 10 minutes up to the ground. Last one leaves about 10 minutes after the game from Stanley Park. You can buy a Soccerbus ticket which includes train and bus. There is also a bus (919) which goes from St John's Lane (5 mins from Central) to the ground. Not sure what time the last one back into town is. Paddock is low down right along one side of the ground. Have a great day. Up The Toffees!
