So far this year (yes I know we're only 19-days in), I've had a flare up of my herniated discs in L4 and L5 in my back, I went to the Emergency Room and they gave me oral steroids and some pain killers.

Well now, I've gone and gotten myself a cataract in my left eye - can't see a bloody thing out of it! Apparently, I must be pretty special as the odds of getting one of these things at my age (41) is pretty slim. In fact, they think it's a very rare reaction to the steroidal medicine they put me on for my back!! Marvellous!

I just thought perhaps we could have a health thread where folks can post their ailments and others could respond with either:
  • their own personal experiences of such things
  • any potential things to help you feel better - home remedies and the like
Clearly though, this is not some kind of WebMD place and I would seriously urge anyone with any medical conditions to seek medical advice....as much as folks on here may know, there's no substitute for a doctors opinion - unless that doctor is Harold Shipman!

I've always been proud of my dry palms so I can confidently shake hands with folk without seeing them almost vomit, but recently they've become so dry they've started to crack.

Any recommendations for product I can use to alleviate the dryness but not leave me feeling like I've just eaten a KFC? I hate the feeling of greasy skin which most moisturisers leave me with.

Showed up in the ER last year worried I was having a serious health issue. Turns out it was just reflux. That stuff sucks. Glad I wasn't dying, though. Spent all the prior day sitting in the airport feeling crappy and wondering why all the fat people I saw were smiling and I felt so bad.

I'm told Neutrogena is good.

I'm with you though. I hate creams like that. I'm led to believe this one doesn't leave you with a film of grease.

Body Shop hemp hand cream.

I got shocking dermatitis from handing dirty cash working on a shop cashdesk many years ago, I tried all manner of prescription and non prescription creams, then I tried hemp cream and within a month it'd gone completely.

Can feel a bit greasy if you use too much, so use sparingly and often.
