But the game was stopped and Chelsea doctors came onto the field to assist Oscar. Oscars physical actions moments after the collision were classic concussion symptoms and how he was allowed to play on and get the all clear from Chelsea specialists is baffling.

Any news on him anyway?
Thankfully wasn't detained in hospital overnight and returned to training the next day so presumably was given the all clear.

Guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence state people should not play any contact sport for at least three weeks after suffering concussion.

Interesting that last part of the article, yet above this Mourinho states he is involved in training.

He is also expected to be in the team tonight, at least on the bench. Guess they must have determined he didn't have concussion which is surprising given the impact and how he appeared to react.

Have run out of my Telegraph free views so don't know what this says but think the FA panel is going to look into the incident, much good as that will do.

This is the article.

An eminent group of neurologists have been asked by the FA to advise it and football on best practice and, following the introduction of new guidelines this season, it is understood it will review how relevant incidents have been handled

The new FA and Premier League guidelines state a player must be removed from the field of play and not be allowed to return if there is any suspicion of concussion. It is also made clear the decision must rest with the club doctor rather than the manager. There is no suggestion Jose Mourinho had any influence on Sunday’s decision, but the Chelsea manager did not know on Monday whether or not Oscar was concussed.

“I’m not sure of that,” Mourinho said. “We saw his face was swollen, and he was having a tough time. We didn’t want to take any risks, so we made that decision. Everybody travels, even the ones who are not able to play. He’s not in the hospital. He went home and slept.” Headway, the brain injury charity, advises a safety-first approach at every level and stresses “if in doubt, sit it out”.

Oscar's reactions immediately following the impact were that of a concussed state, symptoms. If the new guidelines state that he cannot continue, its just strange that he was given the all clear to finish the half. I had the game on in my house but i wasn't really paying much attention to the game; How did he play after the incident ?

He's been given the all clear now by medical staff, which is good to see.

Thanks for posting the article.

I was the same, too busy enjoying the glow of beating Utd to pay much attention to the game :)

From what I saw he seemed fine, certainly not like Kramer in the World Cup for example. But as that charity says "if in doubt, sit it out", they barely had him off the field for 2 minutes, not enough to properly check if he was concussed.
