article with reader comments here. do you hear an occasional low hum and turn off all the power in your home before realising it's yer mar?

actually it's low-frequency tinnitus, but many insist it's something more mysterious as acoustically it sounds like it's coming from outside or within the walls. if you have it and are willing to accept it's tinnitus then i have the solution for you:

find the hertz frequency. This is a good site for that:

In my case it's 112hz...you'll know when it's the right frequency because the vibratory humming in your ear is gone, it's been equalized by the hz tone.

I've heard of this before but don't think I've ever noticed it myself, but I do live on a main road with three kids with various tvs/phones playing YouTube and cartoons so it's very rare that it's silence in the house

Maybe youse are all just weird and that humming is your soul trying to escape your frazzled minds

I have it. It was diagnosed as tinnitus. Mine is like a low rumble of distant traffic. I originally thought it was with living in or near a big city but I still hear it now despite living in the lake district, in the middle of knowhere.

aye, that's it. did you try finding the hertz-frequency and did it equalise it? curious as to your hz, i heard some have it as low as 25hz (at that frequency you need subwoofers to play it back).

Could it be the sound of blood flowing through capillaries near your inner ear?
Had a blood pressure check? (Don't get unduly worried I'm speculating, not an expert)
