After doing a bit of research it seems that Yarmolenko is now the 7th most popular word used in the Everton forum for the last 12 months, behind obvious ones like Everton, Draw, Delofeu and Texans and a few others.

So I did a bit more digging and found that before February this year this word had never been uttered in the forum before it's suddenly burst onto the scene as some kind of zeitgeist. There was a distinct down turn in its usage from late March to mid May but a clear and rapid rise over the summer months and it hit a yearly high in August.

Anyway I'd just thought with it being so popular now how many of you have seen this Yarmolenko thing live outside of a two week period in March this year?

I had vaguely heard of him before we played Kiev but wouldn't have given the fella seconds thought if we hadn't been on the receiving end of him away.

Was quite impressive against us though!

I'd like to see the mods use a word filter to change "yarmolenko" into something else like "Gerrard did nothing wrong" or some such.

I did in the europa afterwards yeah, but not before. Dynamo Kiev didn't really appeal to me on a thursday night.

ok, but wasn't as impressed as i was when he played us, not as explosive when i seen him.

There's no way for me to not sound like a "I saw them when" bellend, but....I remember him and Konoplyanka clearly from Euro 2012. Both had very good tournaments. Always liked Yarmz, and was made up when we were definitely signing him, then weren't, then were, etc etc.

edit: Ukraine went out in the groups, so they couldn't have done fantastically well. England & France went through, but these two were the Ukraines standout players from my recollection

Seen him play a fair few times over the years in the big Ukraine league and cup games and for the national team, never really thought about him for Everton until he tore us apart and how well he performed throughout the Europa campaign though as showed he could step up to the next level.

Probably seen him play more since we played them than before though

Just waiting for us to get linked with some Spartak player though then can bore everyone with how often i've seen those lol
