Have a guess where the majority of Tory Party funding comes from

Excellent point, but it cannot be denied that the Labour party played ball with the Unions as an obedient puppy on more than one occasion.

The Tories, however, are definitely more prone to drastic policy decisions based on their relationship with the city of London in particular.

Once they came in, it was quite obvious the banks were off the hook completely.

Loved how the banks "welcomed" Osbournes announcement today and simultaneously paid out millions in bonuses.
Project Merlin is being derided by most people in the know utterly inept peice of work from an inept government but honestly did we expect anything else from the Z team who's in charge of our country at the moment?

most political funded is dodgy as far as im concerned.

banks are holding this country to ransom........."let us do what we want , or we will move abroad".its a tricky balancing act for anyone to sort out.but we cant be weak against them imo.
as for project merlin , the conservatives doing something is better than them doing nothing.besides its certainly a step in the right direction . if its inept , im not sure what that says about the previous labour governments handling of banks ? totally inept ? not fit for purpose ? moribund ?

but not only are we being held to ransom by the banks but we are also being held to ransom by the unions.
this multi million war chest they have gathered to launch national strikes is all about rocking the boat , causing disharmony , halting any proggression and getting power back for labour , the party they backed ,that are also the main reason we have to have cuts in the first place.

ps i find edd balls commenting on our recovery absurd and insulting. his finger prints are all over the carcass thats left of our economy.

I agree with you over funding as i said it should be state lead on equal footing then let the people decide

Merlin apart from being a silly name just doesnt go far enough, its doing a job trying to deflect our anger away from the bankers most people better than i have said its not good enough including a libdem peer so i'll bow to their greater knowledge.

Did Labour do enough to get the banks lending again? no of course not and here i think is where Merlin run deep into trouble unless you legislate against the banks to force them to lend your toothless agreeing to lend is meaningless becuase all a bank has to say is "not enough credit worthiness about" and its their get out of jail free cards i think the last government showed that problem and i'm sure this one will run into the same wall.

I've seen no evidence, yet,of the unions causing disruptions other than marches etc all of which is perfectly lawful if peaceful.

The bankers brought the world to the edge of a depression now i wonder who's to blame the most? The bankers for me never have so many suffered at the hands of a few chancers and the fact the governments throughout the world deregulated them is shameful.

Balls will wipe the floor with Osbourne, you call what Labour left a "carcass" but do you remember what it was like pre '97? i do hospital waiting lists, age old hospitals, schools falling down etc now of course Labour didn't and couldn't put it all right but the countries infrastructure is far better today than it was 13 years ago and an uncomfortable truth that isnt answered by the tories is this at some point the money thats been spent on schools, hosptials, public buildings etc would HAVE to have been spent so the money, the deficit went on bricks and mortar surely that has to be better?

I'll say it again,i wasnt a fan of the blair/brown years but i will say this in those deep dark days when the world peered over the edge for those few months i was glad at having Brown in charge of the country his plan was nothing radical it was just a case of knowing his history and with his actions an almost certain depression was averted if i'm wrong then why did the western world to a man all but follow what we did? what i find sad to a man the world governments have shied away from changing the way banking is done throughout the world we had one chance and frankly the world blew it.
