Has Rodgers smelt the coffee?

My grandad is 80, has dementia, takes 16 pills a day to keep himself going and at times does things that defy common sense yet yesterday i went for a visit and the first thing he said was 'hows about that fellaini ey lad havent seen a player like him for a while' i agreed he's a bit boss and had a little talk about Everton, "well yas are definately the best team in the city at the minute, our lot are a gang of clowns especially that Rodgers, any Liverpool fan who can't see he's just a bull****ter smooth talking his way through a job he can't do does not deserve to have an opinion"

TBF, most kopites i know are quite level headed and have been criticising the situation at their club, they worry that too many reds are oblivious to how ****ed they could end up if they continue operating like they are.

All LFC fans should take whatever medication your grandad is on, it's clearly working.

I wonder what he's trying to get out of playing down expectations like that. Must be one of these;

1) There will be no big signing in January and he's subtly killing off expectation that there will be a charge for 4th in 2013. At the moment they're only 4 points behind 8th, so it's not much of a mountain to climb.

2) Rodgers is trying to manufacture a situation where the club finishes 7th/8th, and he can claim credit for steering them in the right direction in achieving this "fantastic" finish.

Me thinks number 2

I would say point 2 is more likely. Partly because I think they'll spend in January, and partly because he's well aware that the more deluded among them will just lap up a 7th place finish after he's said this. It will all have been part of his great plan to get them back where they belong etc

Those two points are one and the same.

It's ok though lads...Ian Rush has been on sky sports today to tell everyone that it's all gonna be ok... he just needs a little time.

Did Rush also say that he is still hoping to go into football management himself, but waiting for the right opportunity? Poor fella, you would think that a manager's position would have become available somewhere over the past decade.
