Total diameter?? Or tread depth?

. Tyre size, tyre tread and tyre manufacturer must be the same on one axle
. The vehicle should have tyres approved by BMW on all 4 wheels
. Tyres with higher tread depths should be on the rear axle
. DOT age difference must not exceed 4 years
. Tread difference between the front and rear axle should not exceed 2-3 mm
. Tread depth on one axle must not exceed 2mm

There are a few more things but they are the main ones

* each manufacturer will have their own recommendations, so always best to check what applies to your car

Any smell of burning in most cars is more than likely the clutch or brake pads ...... the clutch smells far more than brakes.......
Yes I know that, but if you’re driving in Scotland (hills etc) your clutch is gonna smell now and then.

Sorted - Kwick fit were shocked to find a gearbox in the back seat had to put it back on to make sure no bolts bearings were missing etc -
total bill with a report £480 - nothing else wrong with the car other than a basic clutch job he claimed there were loads of extra work needed doing ....
Trade stands inland revenue etc to seek costs and stress for breaking the consumer rights law now - plus a big thank you for all your advice even the sawdust ones ...... ;)
#The taxi driver gave my daughter & boyfriend a name of a good mechanic to use in future - he deliberately parked his car horizontally across his entrance while the cash was given, and they recorded him saying how much more needed doing to the car etc - he was disgusted with them snarling at the boss....:D

One of the few newish cars I ever bought was a smart car. It was still under manufacturer warranty so I thought I'd get a Mercedes stamp on its service. It was a minor service - I looked up the details, oil change (£20 and 15 m7 utesif I did it myself) and a couple of filters plus a few checks. £600 they told me. F^@k off I told them - I could buy a car for that!
So I took it to a normal garage who did the same service for £55 and stamped my book.

Rip off Britain everywhere you look.
Dunno if its the same in Britain but I like how the dealership gives you 3 or 4 pages of all the stuff they've done during the service but 99% of it is stuff like "check interior light was working" and all they've actually done is change the oil and oil filter lol

My late father in law had a newish car Ford from the dealership if he kept up with the servicing program it was at a discount did it for three years - book stamped etc then the offer ended - took it to his mate for the first service outside the dealership ......
They had put the crap thin crappy spare on the back wheel & stole a perfect alloy wheel.......£100 to replace it - I got a good one from the scrapyard for him plus they had stolen the alloy wheel with the key nuts lock on .....

So trustworthy hey ho....... The dealership denied all knowledge of the missing Wheel ........ Plus nuts etc keys etc .....

I always remove my jack tools etc when taking it for a MOT too........they tend to go missing sometimes.......

So he took it to a dealership and they swapped an alloy for a steel wheel, stole the wheel, the locking wheel nut key and one of the lock nuts holding the alloy on ?
