If you kill someone, copper or not, unless it's self defence or genuine accident ie. murder you should never see the light of day again.

Whole life tarrif or death sentence, I don't care. Either way, shouldn't be let loose ever again.
Run that one by me again chief.
You only highlighted a partial sentence; if something's other than (genuine) self defence or an accident, it's usually murder or manslaughter isn't it?

He's an old man who's served nearly 50 years in prison. It's not conducive to the public good to keep in prison. Having done the time he should be allowed to live whatever time he has left in freedom. As hard as that will be for the victims families, it is all about what is best for the wider public. There is no point keeping an extremely low risk old man in prison when there can be a much more dangerous threat in the cell he would have been taking up.

If he cant still point a gun then he's still a risk, even then he could use a sawnoff that would hit whatever even if his aim has gone to cack.

The one thing that winds me up are people who believe killers deserve rights. Taking a life is 1 evil that should be eradicated soon as proven guilty beyond doubt.

I think the whole life sentence for killing a cop comes from the notion that the work police do puts themselves in situations that could see them come under serious harm more so than your average joe
