Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp escaped with an FA warning and no formal action for his shock outburst against referee Mark Clattenburg.

The FA spent 48 hours considering whether Redknapp should be charged for questioning the referee's integrity after Nani's controversial goal in Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Saturday, and made their decision just two hours before his side faced Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Redknapp called the decision "scandalous" and then threatened a total ban on post match interviews if he was charged by the FA, but that threat is now redundant, as the FA confirmed to ESPNsoccernet: "There will be no formal charge. Instead Harry Redknapp has been warned as to his future conduct. He will need to be mindful of his comments in the future."

Redknapp's threat not to give any media post match interviews was not taken into account by the FA.

The key issue was that Redknapp broke one of the three criteria for criticising referees. By suggesting that Clattenberg "came up with a story," after consulting with his linesman over the goal, the Spurs boss might have questioned Clattenburg's integrity.

The FA studied the context in which Redknapp made his remarks, having studied the TV footage of his interview.

So why does 'Arry get away with these outbursts when Moyes didn't against the same team?
