Harry Gregg

Yes, whenever I’ve seen footage of him he always came across as a proper good bloke/would like to have next to one in the trenches etc. Of course he died just as Utd were about to play us so I knew that game was a write off for us before the start.

Bobby Charlton...pulled out of the wreckage by Harry Gregg...is now the last surviving survivor.

Much later in a Parkinson interview he was asked did he ever wonder why about why he survived and others didn't, said...
I was lucky, I was sat in the right seat.
How do you mean, asked Parky, luck of the draw?
Charlton explained...gist - Simple, the plane (an 'Elizabethan') was one of, if not the last one to have both forward and rear facing seats...Me and most of the survivors were in the rear facing seats.

note; many flight attendants still sit facing the passengers during landings, its not so they can smile in a reassuring manner if its a bit bumpy and (some / all?) military transports have rear facing seats.
