Never ever bought @mrs the esk a valentines card or present. I told her many years ago you show your love through the things you do throughout the year not on some marketing driven celebration. Fortunately she agrees
Cards in general are a sham. Hate buying them.

I don't think I've ever got her a serious card.
I'm with you on this, totally false, commercial load of rubbish. Designed to extract as much money through faux romantic peer pressure as possible. Me and the missus went out for a meal last night, there by avoiding having to pay double for the privilege of having a candle and a rose on the table. Also avoids having to be in the presence of those couples who have to let everyone know how much they love each other by public displays of affection.
Get a grip, we're English we don't do romance in public !.
Not into it but just write a nice note for my wife, buy some chocolates for the kids and then plan on eating 50% of said chocolates after they fall asleep tonight. No need for the lavish gifts imo.
