Catterick was the key to the “ modern” Everton being established as a top class club, and that 69/70 team he created played some of the most beautiful football I’ve seen from an Everton team. The 70/71 season was such a contrast and he struggled to get us playing that way again, then losing Ball and his ill health meant we never dominated the 70s as we once thought we would.
Just rereading his autobiography - where he forecast Youth players in a good training complex was the future of good attacking football - cough where our - youngsters Dyche ?
We basically challenged for honours for a decade under the Catt,he certainly had his faults, mainly not “kicking on” to greater success, but for me,controversial one here,I’d pitch him just above Howie, taking into account the excellent sides Harry was up against in that era,the two Manchester clubs, that lot,Spurs,Arsenal,Chelsea,Leeds etc we certainly were always in and around it for pretty much all that swinging sixties era
Our exclusive Everton pint glasses are a true collector’s item that pays homage to Goodison Park through iconic players who have graced the pitch over different generations.
