alright lads

has anyone ever been to hamburg?

im going for 4 days the 19th of Decemeber, staying at the holiday inn express Lübecker Straße
im going to watch hamburg sv on the saturday there at home to mainz bought the tickets online, st pauli are also playing on the friday night anyone think there worth a watch?

anyone got any tips? travel? places to eat? nightlife? cheap beer?

wouldnt mind going to some live music pubs of a night, im going with my bird so dont want to be going the reeperbahn

I went for 2 days/1 night couple of years ago.

I don't have much advice if you're going with a bird though soz.

All the bars round Reeperbahn are good though, think there was some sort of funfair close by but it looked pretty sh!t.

There's one of those static hot air balloons in town centre though, that's quite good.
 

Been a couple of times great city, Went to watch st Pauli very hard to get tickets far better atmosphere and drinking in the vicinity than Hamburg who are a bit too right wing for myself. Enjoy.
 
Reeperbahn's got some sound places to drink anyway, yeah there's a few sex clubs and what have ya but it's just a giggle.

All the Amsterdam style "girls behind windows" are in a gated off street called Herbert Strasse where women (other than prossies) aren't supposed to go.

Errr.....so my mate said anyway.
 
Pleased someone has posted this. Mrs. cT and myself were thinking about going in February next year, but don't know much about it.

If you like it efc1878, post a few of your favourite places, bars etc.

where did you stay mate?

iv been on the st pauli website and tickets available still for there game,

what did you do of a night? is the ale expensive?
 

I spent a month living on the reeperbahn at the Monopol Hotel whilst doing a show over there about 10 years ago.

You have the ladies on Herbertstrasse who are behind windows a la Amsterdam, but you also have hoards of roaming brass hanging outside Burger king. Its hard to find a none sex bar round there, but I remember Rosies is a great bar just off the bahn. We went completely Nocturnal for the entire month, didnt see any sunlight at all.

i read somewere else about rosies bar, any more tips?

places to eat? live music?

travel tips?
 
Rosies is a tiny bar and it gets rammed due to being the only none sex bar in that area. Eclectic bunch of people in there! Great tunes though, normally a dj in there.

There was a fantastic italian next door to the monopol who's name escapes me.

Can't remember much else about that month, great days!

there's a ton of places that aren't sex bars though, closer to the U-bahn end

I'll have to see if I can find the names
