Guitarists - Advice Needed

@Old Blue 2 you had any experience removing frets and replacing them?

I've got an old Takemine acoustic I've pretty much left to gather dust the last 10 years and completely forgot about. Just took a look at it tonight, took the old strings off and have it a clean. It's got a few really bad cracks (so not sure how to fix them ) but the first 8 frets need replacing so firstly I'd like to do that either by myself or would you recommend taking it to a music shop?

Mate I build classical guitars fretwork is tricky but not impossible ….. there is a lot of advice in you tube land about how to proceed and with the right tools some patience and a realistic set of expectations it could be something that kicks you off in a new direction…… go for it
Here’s a link to one such decent tube

No, I've never replaced frets.

I would suggest taking the guitar to a recognised luthier (or two) and get estimates for the work before proceeding. I wouldn't take it to an ordinary music shop, as I don't believe the necessary knowledge for the job would be there with any of the employees. Nowadays, they are just sales people.
