That's a reasonable point mate. I suppose all Elstone left out then was the detailed figures that went with each of those sub-categories...and how and why we've seen the whole category increase tenfold. I accept (if it can be shown) that costs that previously weren't shown in Other Operating Costs will be one reason for the inflated figures. As Steken mentions above though, if the club wanted to they could break this whole section down forensically and have done with the debate over what the hell is going on with that part of the club's outgoings. They wont or cant.

They could show them, but when you produce your annual budget report you wouldn't. I'm currently in the process of writing my annual report, which will include financial breakdown, i won't, however, breakdown each individual cost, it'll just be a report on the cost centre and what the overlaying figure is, the cost code that sits within that cost centre is irrelevant as long as my bottom line figure is fine. The club could report on Other Operating Costs, I have a Miscellanous Cost Centre myself, all my none-budgeted items go against this; this year its up £127k because of unforseen circumstances.

The Phillip Green issue is another thing, its very unlikely, or ethical, that the club will be allowed to place any payments direct to a person or corporation, there is legislative requirements for such things. However, it could be more likely that Phillip Green, under the Companies Act, is listed as a Shadow Director and any payments made could be concealed as 'Expenses' within 'Other Operating Costs', or something along them lines; creative accounting is a wonderful thing

Unless somebody gets access to Everton FC's Financial System nobody on this site will know the truth, its specualtion on everybodys part.

It is speculation, yes.

We know about Green's involvement and only a complete ingenue would believe that when he says he's helped Everton in the past that help wasn't of the financial kind. Now, he's not a charity so you'd assume that had to be paid back in some way, shape or form without embroiling him in Everton's affairs. We also know BCR Sports registered by Earl in the BVI need not disclose publically who's part of it (Leeds had to divulge who was part of the offshore trust controlling them, it would be like cracking open a window in a stinking room if Everton were forced down that avenue to similarly divulge). So, it's entirely reasonable (whist acknowledging the pitfalls and inexactitude of doing so) to put all that together and make an educated guess as to whether it's impacted on part of Everton's outgoings. As you say 'speculation'...but you wouldn't put your house against it being so, would you?

Of course I wouldn't, the whole affair stinks; the final straw being the registration of BCR in BVI. I'd rather he'd come clean and say if there is something going on so we know where stand. But its poor management, and has been for years. But as they say, innocent until proven guilty :(

The disappointment is there's enough info available to make journos and fans push for answers which COULD force the issue, maybe break the log jam of Kenwright and co.

But the truth is until the straits of a relegation fight loom not enough match goers are REALLY bothered - it's a day out with pie and chips - you can see top players from Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, fellas you normally only see on telly.

What more can you ask for?

But I accept that what I profer on the OOC front is an assertion. I dont have to show any workings out.

Fantastic argument this - Im making dubious suggestions that I have no evidence for therefore I dont have to give any rational logic behind them.

tihs is great on this basis, anybody can claim anything, however far fetched you want as you dont actually need any genuine evidence or even logical progression to prove it anymore!

Ok I'll start

I believe that a Chinese multi-billionaire is planning on buying Everton and Liverpool - disbanding Liverpool and joining the 2 together as Everton FC to play in a new 200,000 seat stadium on stanley Park (assuming the floating stadium on the Mersey doesnt get the go ahead obviously)

Bravo. You've just demolished the notion of reasoning by deduction.

Should we just explain Everton's remarkable rise in outgoings as an act of God and leave it at that?

Reading half these conspiracy theory posts is like reading something from the X files, just the X files plots are more plausible.

I'm not an expert on finances like 90% of the people on here but our figures are comparable to other clubs with similar turnover.

If the board were throwing away or losing millions to a great extent then we wouldn't be spending as much on wages as other clubs in a similar position.

Haha, I know your not soft Changy. BTW, how much dya reckon his house was worth?

I'm thinking pastel pink decor, swimming pool with deep end unsafe for children, various county court judgements for unpaid debts against the address........region of £2M ?

'Other operating costs': never mind green, what's the chance of this being partly explained by a bad choice of red and black on the tables?
