Joachim Santos plowed through a crowd of people in Portugal in a Ford RS200.

I know, its all covered in detail in the BBC documentary I posted on first page including an interview with one of the guys who was hit who still blames the driver rather than the poor safety measures and lack of common sense from the fans.

I intend on watching all the vids in this thread at some point. I loved the history of Group B. In the 80s I was all about F1 and Rally hadn't crossed my radar....not until after I left home, joined the Navy and somehow discovered the WRC (hard as hell in the US, as coverage of both F1 and WRC over there in the mid-late 90's was non-existent)

Watched it a couple nights ago. Really good. Terrible, but inevitable, what happened. The danger/thrill involved must have been immense. Kind of reminded me of early (60s?) F1, where it seems someone died every other race :(
