F1 today announced the binning of grid girls only a week after darts binned their “walk on” girls.

As expteced the internets gone into meltdown with the BBC comments section being a particular source of amusement.

What’s GOTS take ? Is it “PC gone mad” ? will we soon be looking at an epidemic of unemployed homeless sport models on our streets ? Or is just a load of fuss over nothing ?

It's both imo mate. Yes all the people weeping and whaling about the girls being banned in both events (as much as I enjoy Darts I hardly think it qualifys as a sport!) are acting so hilariously OTT you'd of thought it was the end of the world!

However, I've not yet been able to get a logical or reasonable answer as to why banning the grid/walk on Girls is supposed to be a good or progressive thing from anyone yet other then the laughable line saying "oh it's so old fashioned, it's 2018 for goodness sake!" which isn't an answer. The fact is the whole thing is an absolute load of nonsense and the idea that it's being done in the name of equality has been a source of amusement to every woman I know who frankly couldn't care less about the whole thing.

Quite. I doubt anyone watches F1 or the darts for the grid girls, or the walk on girls. Its just part of the show, like the David Coultard doing the grid interviews or the MC taking 30 seconds to say a boxers name.

Probably going to get shot down here but just seems like the nerdy girls revenge on the prom queens etc.

If this is exploiting/sexism then we also need to ban lads mags, beauty competitions, cat walk models. Let's all wear burqas and be done with it.

These girls don't have trouble finding work. This is one event a year... they will do hundreds. Go to most trade shows or exhibits anywhere in Europe and there are women wearing next to nothing everywhere you look. They will still have many job opportunities.
